1.  Describe in detail one piece of writing that you have done in English.  It could be a class assignment, a letter, a story, etc.  Tell me the process that you used in writing it; in other words, how did you go about the task?  Then tell me what you enjoyed about it and what was difficult.  Remember to explain why.

This weekend I paid more attention on my reading logs, which you should jot down the summary and response after reading a title on the newspaper or website. Actually, I never met this kind of assignment. Then I began to search online, there were lots of news on the web, but they all looked like too hard to me for a digest. Finally, I found a title introducing a luxury apartment. It was not too hard, even if there were some new word for me. I picked up the main point of every parts of this news as my summary. Of course, I used some transitional signal to connect the each sentences.Second, it turned to response. I thought a lot about it; however, When I finished the several sentences, I found there are all simple sentence such as the sentence started with “it” “there” “he, she or it”. It make the paragraph haven’t structure and looks unshapely. But when I jot down all idea I thought by many compound sentences. there would have sentence expressing unclearly idea. I was confusing about if I write simple sentence or compound sentence on my paper. Besides, I need focus on the grammar and verb tense. So, I think I need more practice.

2.  Do you enjoy writing in your native language?  Why or why not?  What do you write in your native language?

It sounds like you had an intersting assignment in your reading class. I think that you are right; the most important thing is practice. Also, study Chapter 10 carefully because it shows you how to make more complex sentences. Finally, I think it is very important to read as much formal English as you can. This will give you ideas about formal sentence structure and vocabulary and also how to organize your ideas. Thanks for writing, Robert.
